New Governors Support School Choice
Recently elected
Governors in Virginia and New Jersey, Bob McDonnell and Chris Christie,
are strong supporters of parental choice in education and merit pay for
teachers. Gov. McDonnell (Va.) has appointed Gerald Robinson who heads
the Black Alliance for Educational Options (BAEO), as Virginia’s
Secretary of Education. The BAEO supports charter schools and merit pay
for teachers. Gov. Christie (NJ) appointed Bret Schundler, former Mayor
of Jersey City, as NJ’s Education Commissioner. Mr. Schundler is a well
known advocate of school choice and tuition tax credits. If only New
York could be so fortunate !
