Latino Voters Want School Choice
Two recent public opinion
surveys show Hispanics strongly in favor of school choice programs, with
one poll showing this to be a top voting issue. The other poll showed
Hispanic voters to be three times more likely to vote for candidates
supporting school choice than candidates who do not. The poll also
showed 82% of Latino voters view education as one of the top three
issues. Too bad so many politicians who receive votes from Hispanics
place the self interests of the teacher unions, which oppose school
choice, above the needs and desires of these Hispanic voters. Worse
still, is the fact that most of these voters are unaware the candidates
they usually vote for won’t support parental choice in education for
fear of antagonizing the teacher unions.
